tours:
Both tours will depart from and return to the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center.
Note: Entrance into the temples is not permitted with bare shoulders / shorts / mini-skirts.

GRAND PALACE & TEMPLE TOUR

The tour will start by visiting Wat Traimit, the golden Buddha Temple. This temple was
constructed during the Sukhothai period.

Grand Palace & Temple Tour - Accompanying Person, WCPD 2009The Buddha image is solid gold, 3 meters high and weighs 5 ½ tons. We will continue the tour and visit Wat Pho, the temple of the reclining Buddha. It was built about 200 years ago, during the reign of King Rama I. The gigantic reclining Buddha is 46 meters long and 15 meters high. It is gold-plated with beautifully inlaid mother of pearl soles. After this, we continue on a visit of Wat Benchamabophit, the marble temple. It is located next to Chitralada Palace, the King’s residence. Its main building was constructed during the reign of King Rama V. The interior of the main building is magnificently decorated with cross beams of lacquer and gold. The walls of the spacious inner courtyard are lined with a large collection of bronze Buddhas. The tour also includes a visit of Wat Phra Kaew, the temple of the Emerald Buddha within the Grand Palace which is the imitation of Thailand’s most famous temple, the Wat Phra Sri Sanphet, in the ancient capital of Ayutthaya, built by King Rama I.

KLONG TOUR
Klong Tour - Accompanying Person, WCPD 2009
This tour leads us through the canals of Bangkok’s sister city, Thonburi. Get to know the life by the river that has not changed for decades. That tour includes a visit to the Royal Barges Museum. This fleet of magnificently carved and decorated boats is used for royal ceremonies. Afterwards move on to Wat Arun, the Temple of Dawn, on the banks of the Chao Phraya River. From its 79-metre-high pagoda, enjoy a gorgeous view of riverside Bangkok .
