It is a privilege and delight for the Executive Committee of the European Skull Base Society to invite you to the 10th ESBS Congress to be held in Brighton UK, 16-19 May 2012 in association with the 6th International Congress of the World Federation of Skull Base Societies.
Since the memorable founding of the ESBS in 1993 the ESBS congress has been held every two years. Over the years, it has become an increasingly important meeting where different disciplines share their knowledge on cranial base pathology. The society emphasizes the importance of all disciplines involved in skull base surgery. The ESBS congresses are therefore characterized by interdisciplinary cooperation as well as outstanding scientific quality. It has indeed become the ultimate, multidisciplinary, scientific forum on skull base surgery and pathology.
One of the purposes of the society is to ensure the development and improvement of multidisciplinary centres. From this point of view the ESBS supports and stimulates the training and education of young colleagues into this fascinating subspecialty. ESBS Awards and Grants for Fellowships have therefore been established since 2004 with great success. The title of this congress ‘Inspiration, Education and looking into the Future’ fits the goals of the ESBS perfectly.
The society is therefore very grateful to Carl Hardwidge, ESBS President-Elect and Michael Gleeson, President of the World Federation of Skull Base Societies for their efforts as Congress Presidents in preparing this joint congress.
We have full confidence that the scientific programme with advances in basic research, technology, up to date lectures and presentations as well as the social events will have been excellently organized in an ESBS characteristic, open, interdisciplinary atmosphere.
This congress can not be missed by those of you who are interested in skull base surgery and pathology.
Looking forward to meeting you in Brighton.
