Aim: To explore limitations of current biomarker discovery strategies for ovarian cancer screening and possible solutions. This is an interactive workshop involving researchers from academia and industry,
Format:
1. Defining the problem: Prof Usha Menon (10 mins) – will highlight issues - cancer (site and histology/type) / samples and collections / controls / screening strategies / risk stratification / surrogate endpoints for mortality
2. The industry perspective: Dr Doug Malinowski from BD Diagnostics - will highlight the issues involved in introducing bringing an ovarian cancer screening test to the market (15 mins)
3. The NCI perspective: Dr Sudhir Srivastav – will speak on the Early Detection Research Network schema on biomarker discovery (10 mins)
