Berthold Koletzko graduated the University of Münster, Medical School, Germany, earning his License as a Physician in 1980. Since then, he has gone on to become an internationally acclaimed leader in the study of Paediatric Gastroenterology.Koletzko has 751 publications (259 original papers, 303 reviews, 170 book chapters, 24 books) to his credit. Among the various leadership roles he has assumed, Koletzko is Chair of the Committee on Nutrition, German Society of Paediatrics. He is also the recipient of numerous awards and honours, including Hans Adolf Krebs Award, German Society for Nutrition.

Professor Tim Cole, MRC Centre of Epidemiology for Child Health, UCL Institute of Child Health, London, UK

Tim Cole has 40 years of experience in applying statistical methods to research in lung function, nutrition, growth, and obesity. Cole has published some 375 peer-reviewed articles. In the field of paediatrics, Coles is credited for having developed the LMS method to construct growth references, used for national references in the UK, USA, and WHO. In 1979 he proposed the use of body mass index (BMI) to assess adiposity in children.
