Abstract Submission
If I submit an abstract do I have to attend the Symposium?
All accepted abstracts are scheduled in the Scientific Program either as Oral or Poster presentations. It is expected that at least one author of the abstract attend the meeting to present the work and answer questions. Only abstracts of registered participants will be scheduled in the Scientific Program.
I have submitted an abstract, when will I know if it has been accepted?
Only after all abstracts have been reviewed by the Scientific Committee will notifications be sent to the abstract submitters. Every effort is made to conclude this process within one month after the abstract submission deadline (February 6, 2013 is the abstract submission deadline. March 13, 2013 is the expected notification date).
How can I make changes to an abstract I have already submitted?

My abstract has been accepted but I do not have a copy. Are you able to send one to me?

Registration
How do I register for the Symposium?

How can I pay the registration fees?
Payment of registration fees can be made by credit card or bank transfer. For full details please click here.
Can I receive an invoice under the sponsoring Company/ Hospital’s name?
Yes. If you require an invoice to be issued to the sponsoring company, please send an email to the registration department at mds2013_reg@kenes.com specifying the services requested and full address of the sponsoring company.
Can I register for the Symposium without paying?
Yes, but your registration will be confirmed only when full payment is received.
Can I register before the early fee deadline and pay later?
In order to benefit from the early fee registration discount, payment must be received before the deadline.
Can I register on site?
Yes. Onsite registration is available during the Symposium days. Onsite fees will apply.
What does my registration fees include?

Will I receive a confirmation letter after I have finished registering?
Yes. A detailed confirmation letter and receipt will be sent to you by email as soon as payment is received and registration is completed.
Accommodation
How can I find out information about hotels and their rates?
Kenes International is offering MDS 2013 participants specially reduced rates for various hotels in Berlin.

How can I book my room and should I pay in advance?
In order to book a room, please book online. A deposit payment of 1 night is requested in order to confirm the booking, and the balance payment is payable until 3 weeks prior to arrival. Please note that full payment is required before arriving in Berlin.
Will I receive a hotel confirmation?
Yes. A detailed confirmation will be sent to you by email as soon as the booking is confirmed and the requested deposit is received.
Can I book a hotel room without registering for the Symposium?
Yes. You can book your room without registering by clicking on the "Booking" button of your chosen hotel available on the website via the hotel accommodation page. If you need further assistance, please email the accommodation department at mds2013_reg@kenes.com.
How can I book rooms for a group?

Invitation Letters & Visa Applications
How do I apply for a visa to visit Germany?
Visa regulations depend on your nationality and country of origin. We suggest you contact your local German Consulate for full and official instructions on the specific visa regulations and application procedure that apply to you.
Where can I get a Symposium invitation letter so that I can apply for a visa?
Please send a request for an official invitation letter to mds@kenes.com. Please make sure to send us your full name (as printed in your passport), full postal address and passport number. An official invitation letter will be created and sent to you by e-mail within 3 working days.
Is it possible to send an official invitation letter directly to my local German Consulate?
Unfortunately we are unable to send invitation letters directly to consulates. Invitation letters are prepared solely for individuals and are mailed directly to them.
Congress Venue and Directions
Where is the Symposium taking place?
The Symposium will take place at the Maritim Hotel in Berlin. For more information on the venue, please visit www.maritim.com.
How do I get from the Airport to the Symposium Venue?
Kindly note that the new Berlin airport BBI will not open until October 2013. For the purposes of MDS 2013, the Tegal and Schönefeld airports will be fully operational, allowing easy transport to the Meeting venue and city center.

Taxi fare from Tegal Airport to the Meeting Venue is approximately 18 €
Bus and tram transport: Take bus X9 to 'Bahnhof Zoo', from there take bus 200 to stop 'Philharmonie' (approx. 30-40 minutes)
Schönefeld Airport:
23 km from Meeting Venue
Taxi fare from Schönefeld Airport to the Meeting Venue is approximately 30 €
Bus and tram transport: Bus and tram transport: Take bus X7 (Direction Rudow) to U Rudow, to take Underground 7 (Direction Spandau) to U Kleistpark, and to take Bus M85 (Direction Hauptbahnhof) to Kulturforum.

CME Credits
Is the Symposium CME accredited?
Once the Scientific Program has been finalized, an application for CME credits will be made to the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME). The EACCME is an institution of the European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS): www.uems.net. Further details will be published on the Symposium website as soon as they are available.
How can I claim my CME credits after the Symposium?
You may receive your CME Certificate of Attendance on site at the Symposium Venue or online immediately following the Symposium. Please approach the Registration Desk on site for further information. Each medical specialist should claim only those hours of credit that he/she actually spent in the educational activity.
