ABSTRACT INFORMATION

DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION OF ABSTRACTS: NOVEMBER 30, 2009

Introduction:

• Participants are invited to submit abstracts under any of the categories listed below.
  
• All accepted abstracts will be published in the Journal of Hepatology.
  
• Abstracts will be selected by the Scientific Committee for oral or poster presentation. Please indicate your preference in the space provided when submitting your abstract.
  
• The deadline for submission of abstracts is November 30, 2009
  
• The deadline for late breaking abstracts is February 24, 2010
  The website will be re-opened between February 17 – 24, 2010 for LATE-BREAKING ABSTRACTS ONLY.
  
• Should you wish to amend an abstract after submission please contact the Secretariat at easl2010@easl.eu   
  Amendments received after December 1, 2009 will not be accepted.

Rules for submission of abstracts to EASL 2010 Congress:

• Abstracts that have been presented in previous International Gastroenterology/Hepatology Meetings
  are NOT accepted.
  WARNING: Please ensure that your abstract has never been presented before.
  If this rule is not respected, the abstract will be rejected and will not be considered for the International Liver Congress^TM.
  
• Abstracts are to be submitted via this website only by clicking on the link that appears below
• Please follow the instructions listed in the website step-by-step.

Guidelines for submission of abstracts:

Before you begin, please prepare the following information: 

1. Presenting author's contact details; include full mailing address, office hours phone number and email address
   and fax number.
   
2. Presentation type preference (poster presentation / oral presentation)
   
3. Author or authors' names: initial(s) of first name(s), family name (e.g. J.C. Smith).
   
4. Affiliation details of all authors: Department; Institution / Hospital; City; State/Province (if relevant); Country
   
5. Abstract title – is limited to 25 words
   
6. Table or graph which you wish to include in the abstract. Images should be submitted in JPG/BMP format, maximum width 9cm, and resolution up to 150dpi. Please note that these may be resized to fit in the final printed material.
   
7. Abstract text – limited to 350 words including acknowledgements (fewer if a figure is included in the abstract)
   Abstracts should be as informative as possible and must use the following structured format:
• Background and aims
• Methods
• Results
• Conclusions (avoid evasive statements like "the findings will be discussed".)

Use only standard abbreviations. Place special or unusual abbreviations in parentheses after the full word the first time it appears.

Use generic names of drugs. Express numbers as numerals

We recommend using word-processing software (for example Word) for editing your abstract and counting the number of words. Typing your text directly into the field is not recommended:
a: You will not be able to see the abstract after pressing the Submit button
b: You will not receive a copy of your abstract. Please save your abstract accordingly for your own personal records. 

8. Abstract topic – select the category under which the abstract is to be reviewed after consulting the list of categories.

PLEASE DO NOT SUBMIT MULTIPLE COPIES OF THE SAME ABSTRACT.
