Dear Delegates, Colleagues and Friends,
It is a great pleasure for the International Spinal Cord Society (ISCoS) to be back in the country where our Society was founded more than fifty years ago. At the same time ISCoS is confident that our host SCI-UK, an umbrella organization, comprised of the British Association of Spinal Cord Injury Specialists, the Multidisciplinary Association of Spinal Cord Injury Professionals and the Spinal Injuries Association & Spinal Injuries Scotland will make the 51st Annual Scientific Meeting of ISCoS in London September 3-5, 2012 a success.
All attendees can look forward to presentations of recent research within the specified themes, Long Term Outcome of SCI, Health Economics and Cost Management, and Putting Evidence into Practice, as well as Free Paper sessions. The ISCoS Scientific Committee will, together with the Local Organizing Committee, make sure that there are, in addition, several workshops with different educational issues related to individuals with spinal cord lesions. Therefore, do not hesitate to submit your abstracts for presentations or workshops.
The ISCoS Annual Scientific Meeting is to be held at the same time as the Paralympics, making it possible to enjoy the World’s best wheelchair athletes. ISCoS and the World Health Organisation (WHO) will also use this unique opportunity to launch the International Perspective on Spinal Cord Injury (IPSCI) report. This joint project between ISCoS, WHO and the Swiss Paraplegic Foundation is developed to enhance knowledge and educational levels regarding the challenges a spinal cord lesion is to the individuals themselves, their surroundings and the societies.
On behalf of ISCoS I am looking forward to seeing you in the great city of London September 2012.

Fin Biering-Sørensen
President of ISCoS
