Welcome Message

Dear Colleagues,

Following the conference on IMLI that took place in Hamburg in 2008, the European Association for the Study of the Liver (EASL) Governing Board has decided to repeat this successful event in 2012.  It is our pleasure to welcome you to the EASL Monothematic Conference on “Immune Mediated Liver Injury – IMLI” that will take place in Stratford-upon-Avon near Birmingham, UK from January 19th to January 21st, 2012

Immune-mediated liver injury is the common pathway that underpins most of the liver diseases we treat in Europe, including viral hepatitis, toxic liver damage, autoimmune liver disease and steatohepatitis.  Understanding the mechanisms involved will allow us to develop much needed treatments for chronic liver disease.  This is an opportune time to review exciting recent developments in the field and to this end we have assembled an outstanding programme with leading international authorities in the field.  They will address immune-mediated liver injury from basic mechanisms through to pathophysiology and therapy.  An important element of the meeting will be discussions and interactions between delegates and speakers which we hope will lead to collaborations and the dissemination of ideas and knowledge.

The meeting venue is historic Stratford-upon-Avon, the birthplace of William Shakespeare who said “Ignorance is the curse of God; knowledge is the wing wherewith we fly to heaven.”

We look forward to welcoming you to this important scientific event.
