EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

After attending this activity, participants should be able to:

• Properly evaluate the cardiometabolic risk associated with abdominal obesity and features of the metabolic syndrome.
• Understand the pathophysiology of abdominal obesity and related metabolic complications.
• Discuss how to assess cardiometabolic risk among abdominally obese patients.
• Discuss the management of abdominal obesity, type 2 diabetes and global cardiometabolic risk (diet/nutrition, physical activity/exercise, pharmacotherapy).
