The weather in Leipzig in July is mild with an average daytime temperature of 25°C. There is a chance of light rain so it is wise to carry an umbrella.
Liability and Insurance
The Congress Secretariat and Organizers cannot accept liability for personal accidents or loss of or damage to private property of participants and accompanying persons, either during or indirectly arising from the 5th Congress of European Microbiologists (FEMS). Participants are advised to take out their own personal health and travel insurance for their trip.
Please check with your local German Embassy if you require a visa for entry to Germany.
Leipzig-Halle Airport (LEJ)
Leipzig’s airport features daily direct connections to major European cities like Paris, Brussels, Vienna, Prague, Madrid, Barcelona and Lisbon. There are also several flights daily to major German hubs like Frankfurt, Munich, Düsseldorf, Cologne and Stuttgart, with connecting flights to Leipzig.
Berlin Airport (Tegel TXL and Schönefeld SXF)
There are many flights from European destinations to the two airports in Berlin where one can continue their journey to Leipzig by train. The train ride from Berlin Central Station to Leipzig takes one hour and trains leave every hour.
Leipzig Central Station is Europe’s largest railway terminal station which puts Leipzig in the center of Europe’s railway network. The fast and comfortable ICE trains provide good connections to all major cities in Germany and some neighbouring European countries.
TRAVEL IN LEIPZIG
The Congress venue is situated 15 minutes away from the historic city of Leipzig.
Leipzig features and excellent and reliable public transport network which is operated by LVB Leipziger Verkehrsbetriebe (the Leipzig Transport Company).
The city train (Tram No. 16) is the direct connection between the city center and the venue.
