DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION OF ABSTRACTS: February 2, 2009
Submitters are cordially invited to present the outcome of their research on the occasion of the 3rd FEMS Congress of European Microbiologists. Abstracts should be submitted via this website only. Abstracts should be no longer than 2,000 characters and have the format:
- Background
- Objectives
- Methods
- Conclusions
- References (if available)

There will be three different types of sessions:
1. Workshops
Over the course of the Congress there will be 18 workshops. Each workshop will consist of presentations by the two chairpersons and four presentations selected from submitted abstracts for oral presentations.

2. Special Poster Discussion Groups
Instead of “traditional poster walks” there will be Special Poster Discussion Groups on selected highly topical issues. These sessions will offer young scientists an unique opportunity to present and discuss interim results of high importance.
The topics of all Special Poster Discussion Groups will be available on this website shortly.
3. Poster Presentations
Throughout the Congress there will be poster sessions scheduled covering all areas of microbiology addressed by this Congress. To view topics click here
Submissions marked Workshops or Special Poster Discussion Groups not accepted for either of these types will be considered for poster presentation. Authors will be notified regarding Abstract acceptance. Accepted abstracts will be included in the CD of abstracts that will be distributed at the Congress. A limited number of abstract books will be printed and will be available for purchase.
