About The Hague 

The Hague is a historical city on the North Sea coast in The Netherlands. Located in the city is the Peace Palace - home of the International Court of Justice, The Hague Academy of International Law, and the Permanent Court of Arbitration. The Hague is also home to Europol, the Yugoslavia Tribunal and over 60 international embassies. The city also has the Madurodam – a miniature city which includes the canal houses of Amsterdam, the Alkmaar cheese market, parts of the Deltaworks and the Amsterdam Rijksmuseum all in minute detail on a 1: 25 scale. The Gemeente Museum holds the largest Mondriaan collection in the world and the Royal Painting Cabinet Mauritshuis is housed in one of Holland’s most outstanding classicist buildings; this building holds an exceptional quality of artwork from Vermeer, Rembrandt and Potter. Due to the fact that The Hague has been a central location for the residences of monarchs over the years, a number of beautiful palaces are located in the city. Additionally, other attractions to visit include The Hague Municipal Museum, the Inner Court (Binnenhof) and the Hall of the Knights (Ridderzaal).

The Hague does not have an international airport but is a 30 – 50 minute transfer by taxi or train from Amsterdam’s Schiphol International Airport. The Hague is also accessible via the smaller and more Western European orientated Rotterdam Airport. This airport is approximately a 20 minute drive from the center of The Hague. Ferries also provide good transportation links for visitors coming from the UK or Scandinavia.
