ESPID Research Open Meeting - Wednesday, May 9, 2012, 12:00-13:00
The ESPID Research Lunch – This is an open meeting to all participants. No pre-registration is required, but space is limited and on a first-come, first-serve basis.
This meeting will provide a brief overview of the current and planned collaborative PID research projects in Europe. The aim of the meeting is to showcase many of the projects and discuss ways of becoming involved in future research opportunities.
ESPID Research Hub - Thursday May 10, 2012
The new ESPID Research Hub will be open on Thursday, May 10.
The Research Hub is a designated place in the exhibition area, where ESPID scientists interact on all aspects of focused topics in both laboratory based and clinical research. The Research Hub aims at developing novel research initiatives, which will eventually receive support from the ESPID funding toolbox.
This year’s Research Hub will be about:
- Immunity to mycobacteria: Basic and translational aspects
- Host gene variants in infectious diseases: Pathogenetic and methodological aspects
- Improving antibiotic use in children: Measurement and then?
The major activity of the Research Hub will happen in the lunch break between 12:40-14:05. At this time, the exchange of scientific and methodological questions and observations will be mentored by experienced scientists.
The Research Hub is open to everybody who is interested in these topics, irrespective of the level of expertise. So, do drop in, bring coworkers, and take part in lively scientific discussions on cutting edge developments in ID research.
Research Lunches - Friday, May 11, 2012, 11:50-12:50
ESPID has created the Research Lunch Sessions where ESPID Members who are actively involved in clinical, translational or basic research can communicate in an informal and informative manner. These sessions offer the opportunity to interact with experts working in the same field in order to form new networks, strengthen existing ones, to initiate international and multicentre international trials, or to simply exchange research experiences.
One or two experts will chair a session and present the highlights of the chosen topic. The Research Lunch network sessions will take place on Friday, May 11, 2012, from 11:50-12:50 (RL1-RL3).

- RESEARCH LUNCH 2: EUROPEAN COLLABORATIVE GROUP ON COMMUNITY-ACQUIRED S. AUREUS PAEDIATRIC
INFECTIONS
- RESEARCH LUNCH 3: PHARMACOKINETICS AND PHARMACODYNAMICS OF ANTIMICROBIAL AGENTS

Each session will be limited to a maximum of 70 participants and pre-registration is mandatory. Tickets will be available on the first come first served basis the day prior to the sessions at the ESPID booth in the exhibition. Please note the Research Lunch Sessions are open to ESPID Members only.
