EPA 2009 invites recent graduates to its specialist program tailored to the needs of the young psychiatrist.
This year’s Young Psychiatrist’s program is entitled ““European identity in Psychiatry: dream or reality for European Young Psychiatrists and Trainees?” The program offers the following benefits:
- Reduced Fees: Young Psychiatrists pay a reduced rate for the EPA congress.
- Young Psychiatrists Coffee Lounge: Providing a central and integral part of the program serving as a central meeting point for networking and recruitment.
- Welcome Session for Young Psychiatrists: An integrated part of the general welcome session, and followed by a social event, this session aims to assist young psychiatrists understand the format of the congress and gives an overview of the EPA’s history and activities.
- Young Psychiatrists Symposium:
- Leadership in psychiatry
- “European identity for Young Psychiatrists and trainees in Europe: Dream or reality?”
- Interactive Clinical Session “Updates in the treatment of depression”: In cooperation with the Lundbeck Institute, this session offers a unique opportunity for Young Psychiatrists and trainees to participate in an interactive session on state-of-the-art treatment of depressive disorders. This session will cover an update of all aspects of clinical case management in the depressive patient including the recent debates on the efficacy of antidepressants.
- Happy Hour Meetings: Three sessions addressing clinical and academic psychiatry issues relevant to YP and trainees. Topics include:
- Publication strategies for young researchers
- How to start a successful research career?
- Why choose psychiatry as medical specialty?
- Meet the Expert Sessions: These sessions provide Young Psychiatrists with the opportunity to hear leading figures of European psychiatry in an informal and relaxed atmosphere.
- Scholarships Program: The concept of 2008’s scholarship program for Young Psychiatrists and trainees with special grants will be continued (travel assistance, hotel accommodation for 4 nights, complimentary congress registration, complimentary registration for 1 CME Course, 1 year free EPA membership, invitation to the Scholars’ Mentors Luncheon to meet leaders in the field).
- Five research prizes of €2,500 to be awarded to young psychiatrists working in Europe, who have published the best scientific papers in 2008. Two new categories are Child & Adolescent Psychiatry and New Diagnostic Approaches in Psychiatry: Relevance for Research & Practice in Europe.
- Social Event: A special evening for Young Psychiatrists on Sunday, January 25 at a reduced cost.
- Alumni-Mentors’ Luncheon: The awardees of the scholarship program will be invited to a special session to meet with leaders and specialists in the field to facilitate mentorship.
