Dear Colleagues,
It is our honour and privilege to invite European neurosurgeons to join us for the 2011 EANS Congress in Rome, Italy, October 9-14, 2011.
The aim of this Congress is to update neurosurgeons throughout Europe on advances achieved in the field, with particular reference to research, clinical developments, surgical skills and training. The scientific program will highlight different experiences and training programs in order to build a common European knowledge and culture. The educational program will enhance collaboration within the specialty and between subspecialties.
The venue of the Congress, Rome, will add new opportunities for building Euro-Mediterranean relationships thanks to its role as the cradle of European culture. The famous archaeological sites are an exciting testimony of millennia of history, characterizing human efforts toward excellence and leadership. The well-known definition of Rome as “caput mundi” represents and reflects the ambition of today’s European neurosurgeons.
Rome has played a previous role in developing EANS, as the venue of the 2nd European Congress in 1963. This historical precedent will spur us to work extremely hard to make this Congress an unforgettable event and the most comprehensive and intensive scientific experience that we have ever held at a European level.
The European Neurosurgical Institutions and their outstanding representatives are aware of their role and responsibility in advancing the specialty throughout the world, improving science, surgical techniques and decision making skills. The 2011 Congress will be a formidable chance to present the state of the art findings of our discipline. We, as members of the Italian Society of Neurosurgery, are proud to serve the European Association of Neurosurgical Societies and are grateful to the Administrative Council for the choice of Rome as the Congress venue.
We look forward to seeing many of you attending the 2011 EANS Congress in Rome.
