The BSI Congress will take place from Monday, 5th December until Thursday, 8th December 2011.

English is the official language of the congress.

Travel

Liverpool is easily accessible by plane, rail, bus and car.

By Plane:

The nearest airport is John Lennon Airport. A taxi from the airport to the city centre will take approximately 20 minutes. Alternatively, a bus can be taken from the airport to the city centre which will take approximately 40 minutes.

By Rail:

The nearest station is Liverpool Lime Street. ACC Liverpool is a 15 minute walk or a short taxi ride from the station. Alternatively you can take a Merseyrail train to James Street or take the S1 bus directly to ACC Liverpool.

From the South:

There is an hourly service from London to Liverpool Lime Street with a journey time of approximately 2.5 hours.

From the North:

Services run to Wigan North Western, local rail services run from there to Liverpool Lime Street.

By Bus:

The City Centre Circular Route S1 links Liverpool Lime Street station with Queen Square Bus Station, the Albert Dock, ACC Liverpool and other central tourist attractions. Route S1 operates every 10 minutes every day.

By Car:

For satellite navigation, please use the postcode L3 4BX.

From the North:

Take the M6 to junction 26 and follow signs for M58 Liverpool. Follow to end of M58 and follow signs for A59 Liverpool. Continue to follow A59 City Centre until picking up signs for the Albert Dock. This will take you right off the A59 onto the A5053 heading for the Albert Dock. Follow the Yellow AA Signs marked Echo Arena. The nearest car park to ACC Liverpool is on site - turn off at Queens Wharf where you will find a 1,600 space multi-storey car park. Alternative car parking is available as indicated overleaf.

From the South:

Take the M6 to junction 21A, take the M62 to Liverpool, follow signs for City Centre, until picking up signs for the Albert Dock. This will take you via the A59 onto the A5053 heading for the Albert Dock. Follow the Yellow AA Signs marked Echo Arena. The nearest car park to ACC Liverpool is on site - turn off at Queens Wharf where you will find a 1,600 space multi-storey car park.

Registration

On-site registration will start on Monday, December 5th at 12:30 hours. The registration desk and meeting secretariat is located in the lobby of the ACC and will be open during the following hours:

Monday, 5th December 12.30 – 19.00

Tuesday, 6th December 08.00 – 19.00

Wednesday, 7th December 08.00 – 19.00

Thursday, 8th December 08.00 – 17.30

PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL DELEGATES WILL RECEIVE A SEPARATE EMAIL WITH A BARCODE ATTACHED IN ORDER TO REGISTER AT THE CONGRESS. PLEASE PRINT THIS BARCODE OUT AND BRING THIS WITH YOU TO THE CONGRESS IN ORDER TO COLLECT YOUR REGISTRATION PACK AND DELEGATE BAG.

Exhibition

An exhibition is being held in conjunction with the congress. The exhibition will be located in Hall 2 (Lower Galleria) at the ACC and will be clearly signposted.

Exhibition Opening Hours:

Monday, 5th December 18.00 – 21.00

Tuesday, 6th December 10.00 – 16.30

Wednesday, 7th December 10.00 – 16.30

Thursday, 8th December 10.00 – 16.00

Lunches & Refreshments

Coffee, tea and lunch will be served during the official breaks within the exhibition area (Hall 2) on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Accreditation & Evaluation

The BSI Congress has been approved by the Royal College of Pathology for CPD purposes to a maximum of 21 credits. 

A total of 30 credits has been issued by the Institute of Biomedical Sciences

Social Programme

Welcome Reception

Exhibition Area at the ACC – Hall 2

The welcome reception will take place on Monday 5th December in the Exhibition Hall of the ACC.

Congress Party

Wednesday, 7th December
Venue TBC
21.00 until late

Due to popular demand, a congress party will be held from 21.00 until late on Wednesday 7th December.

Further details will follow.

Liability & Insurance

The organisers are not able to take any responsibility whatsoever for injury or damage involving persons and property during the congress. Delegates are advised to take out their own personal insurance to cover travel, accommodation, cancellation and personal effects.
