Application Deadline for the Niels Lassen Award was Monday, 17 January 2011
The Lassen Award is presented by the International Society for Cerebral Blood Flow and Metabolism to recognize an outstanding scientific contribution made by a young scientist. The recipient is selected by the Program Committee based on an abstract submitted for presentation at the biennial meeting of the Society.
Qualifications
To be eligible for the Lassen Award, the applicant must be:
- a member of the Society (ordinary or junior)
- less than 36 years of age at the time of the Award presentation
- the primary author of an abstract submitted for presentation at the Brain meeting
- submit a CV and a letter of recommendation from a Mentor or Supervisor along with abstract submission.
Selection
The recipient of the Lassen Award will be selected by the Program Committee of the Society based upon:
- an indication on the abstract form that the primary author is eligible for the award
- exceptional quality of the submitted abstract, generally determined by receiving the highest score of all abstracts submitted by eligible members
Description of Award
The Lassen Award will consist of:
- a bursary to partially defray the expense of attending the Brain meeting
- an award ceremony prior to the abstract presentation
- a certificate of recognition
- $ 1,500 cash prize

Young Investigator Travel Bursary

Brain & Brain PET 2011 will award a Young Investigator travel stipend.
Qualifications
To be eligible for the Young Investigator Travel Bursary, the applicant must:
- Have submitted an abstract to Brain & Brain PET 2011, which is accepted for oral or poster presentation by applicant.
- be under 36 years of age at the day the conference starts
- be the first (presenting) author of the abstract.
Selection
The recipients of the travel stipends will be selected by the Program Committee of the Society based upon:
- An indication on the abstract form that the primary author is eligible for the award
- An indication on the abstract form of their desire to be considered for the travel stipend
- Exceptional quality of the submitted abstract, generally determined by the score in relation to all abstracts submitted by eligible members.
THE LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
The first ISCBFM Lifetime Achievement Award were awarded to N. Lassen and D. Ingvar at the Brain 97 meeting. The award is not a regular award, but is given only occasionally to recognize exceptional contributions to the Society. Nominations can be received from any member of the Society and reviewed by the Nominating Committee. Their recommendation are discussed and voted on at a regular meeting of the Directors or the vote could be by mail if there was to be no meeting of the Board prior to the proposed date of the award. The Directors voted unanimously to establish this award and to have recommendations presented by the Nominating Committee for a vote of the Directors for each award.
