Dear Friends and Colleagues,
I am delighted to announce that the International Stem Cell Meeting entitled "Stem cells: biology and clinical applications" will be held from June 15th to 17th, 2009, in conjunction with ILSI-BIOMED Israel 2009 conference, Tel Aviv, Israel.
The meeting is designed to concentrate on the biology of stem cells and the most current and pressing topics in their applications. To continue the tradition of the previous two meetings, this year too, some of the most prominent scientists worldwide will come together to present their latest discoveries and to address multifaceted core issues relating to stem cells.
As this year's title suggests, sessions will divide into two main subtopics: biology and clinical applications. Presentations will include areas such as embryonic and adult stem cells, induced pluripotent stem cells, cancer stem cells, stem cells and development and stem cell biology. Talks will revolve around the immense potential of these cells in translational medicine and the innovative stem cell-based healthcare and biomedical solutions our society is rapidly heading towards; these aspects will be covered in sessions dealing with tissue engineering, disease modeling, cell reprogramming, and cell and gene therapy.
I am confident that the synergy with BIOMED, the distinguished list of international and national speakers, the exciting disciplines and the anticipated large audience will produce a uniquely successful meeting in which to mind storm and establish collaborations. To our overseas guests – in addition to cutting-edge science, I hope you find the time to also enjoy Israel's culture, her remarkable history, her warm weather and her kind and hospitable people. On behalf of the members of the Board and Scientific Meetings Committee of Israel Stem Cell Society, I extend my warm invitation to you and wish us all a fruitful meeting.
