Full day trip to Nazareth, the Sea of Galilee and Tiberias

Saturday June13

Depart your hotel and travel, first along the coastal road, before turning inland to travel through the lower Galilee to Nazareth, where Jesus spent his childhood. Visit the Church of the Annunciation and the Church of St. Joseph.

Continue to the village of Kana, before heading to Tiberias, on the shores of the Sea of Galilee.

Visit Capernaum, to view the ruins of the ancient synagogue where Jesus preached, and Tabgha, the site of the Miracle of Fishes and Loaves. View the Mount of Beatitudes stopping off at the baptismal site at the Yardanit, where the Jordan river exits the Sea of Galilee.

Return to Tel Aviv.

Note: comfortable walking shoes; modest dress (no shorts or sleeveless shirts) and head covering are required for visiting Holy places.

Full day trip to Massada and the Dead Sea

Depart Tel Aviv traveling via the Judean hills to the Dead Sea area, the lowest place on earth. Ascend to the ruins of the mountain fortress of Masada by cable car and tour the remains of the fortress, built by King Herod, where the Zealots made their last stand against the Roman legions. Visit the remains of the once luxurious palace, the synagogue, water cisterns, and mosaic floors of the ancient Roman bathhouse. Descend by cable car.

Travel along the shore of the sea where you will have free time to swim and float in the Dead Sea, whose high mineral content and mud is thought to have curative effects.

Return to Tel Aviv.

Note: comfortable walking shoes, head covering, sun protection. Swimsuit and towel are recommended.

Full day trip to Jerusalem

Drive to the Mount of Olives for a panoramic view of Jerusalem. Enter the Old City via the Jaffa Gate. Walk through the Armenian and Jewish Quarters and through the recently excavated and restored Cardo, Roman Road. Stop off at the Western (Wailing) Wall, the holiest place of the Jewish People. Continue on to the Christian Quarter – walk along the Via Dolorosa, following the Stations of the Cross to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher.

In the afternoon proceed to the New City of Jerusalem. Drive, via the Knesset, Israel’s parliament, to Yad Vashem, the memorial to the Holocaust. Tour of the museum.

Return to Tel Aviv
