APASL 2011 Liver Meeting

Message from President

APASL 2011 Study of the Liver President, Teerha Piratvisuth M.D.

Dear Participants,

On behalf of the APASL 2011 Organizing Committee, I would like to thank the close to 4,200 participants from 88 countries who attended the 21st Conference of the Asian Pacific Association for the Study of the Liver held in Bangkok from 17-20 February 2011.

The Conference was a huge success with well-attended keynotes, symposia, special and state-of-the-art lectures, case discussions and early-morning workshops. Over 170 faculty members delivered excellent lectures and presentations.
All social events including the Opening Ceremony, Welcome Reception, and the Conference Dinner were also well-attended and gave participants a taste of true Thai hospitality, excellent cuisine, and rich cultural heritage.

APASL 2011 Bangkok is proud to have received a record-breaking 1,700 abstracts, a first in the history of APASL. 60 abstracts were selected for Plenary and Free Paper presentations, 21 were accepted for Distinguished Poster presentations, and over 1,600 were selected for Poster Presentations. Out of the 1,700 abstracts, 30 have been rejected due to irrelevance to the conference and other reasons.

It has been a great experience organizing the biggest Asian event in hepatology this year. We take pride in hosting the APASL 2011 Conference and we look forward to the continued scientific and research development in hepatology and related fields.

Sawasdee, from the land of smiles – Bangkok!

Teerha Piratvisuth, M.D.
President, APASL 2011
