Abstract Submission

If I submit an abstract do I have to attend the congress?
All accepted abstracts are scheduled in the Scientific Program either as Oral or Poster presentations. It is expected that at least one author of the abstract attend the meeting to present the work and answer questions. Only abstracts of registered participants will be scheduled in the Scientific Program.  

I have submitted an abstract, when will I know if it has been accepted?
Only after all abstracts have been reviewed by the Scientific Committee will notifications be sent to the abstract submitters. Every effort is made to conclude this process by the end of July, one month after the abstract submission deadline (June 10, 2013).

How can I make changes to an abstract I have already submitted?

How do I register for the congress?

How can I pay the registration fees?

Payment of registration fees can be made by credit card or bank transfer. For full details please click here

Can I receive an invoice under the sponsoring Company/ Hospital’s name?

Yes. If you require an invoice to be issued to the sponsoring company, please send an email to the registration department at specifying the services requested and full address of the sponsoring company.


Can I register for the congress without paying?

Yes, but your registration will be confirmed only when full payment is received.


Can I register before the early fee deadline and pay later?

In order to benefit from the early fee registration discount, payment must be received before the deadline.


Can I register on site?

Yes. Onsite registration is available during the congress days. Onsite fees will apply.


What does my registration fees include?

Will I receive a confirmation letter after I have finished registering?
Yes. A detailed confirmation letter and receipt will be sent to you by email as soon as payment is received and registration is completed.




How can I find out information about hotels and their rates?

Kenes International is offering WSPID 2013 participants specially reduced rates for various hotels in Vienna.
Information, pictures, location and rates are available on the hotel accommodation page .


How can I book my room and should I pay in advance?

In order to book a room, please log into the hotels page. Full pre payment is required to confirm your reservation.
The price shown does not include any charges for optional incidentals (such as minibar snacks, telephone calls or internet surcharge). The lodging will assess these fees upon check-out.
Your room will be guaranteed for late arrival

The room rate displayed on the website is a combination of the pre-negotiated room rate for rooms reserved on your behalf by Kenes International. You authorize Kenes International to book reservations for the total reservation price, which includes the room rate displayed on the Website, plus tax and service fees where applicable. You agree that your credit card will be charged by Kenes International for the total reservation price. Upon submitting your reservation request you authorize Kenes international to facilitate hotel reservations on your behalf, including making payment arrangements with hotel suppliers. 

Taxes and Service Charges:

VAT and city tax (if applicable) are included.
Breakfast is included.

Will I receive a hotel confirmation?

Yes. A detailed confirmation will be sent to you by email as soon as the booking is confirmed and the requested deposit is received.

Invitation Letters & Visa Applications

How do I apply for a visa to visit South Africa?
Visa regulations depend on your nationality and country of origin. We suggest you contact your local South Africa Consulate for full and official instructions on the specific visa regulations and application procedure that apply to you.

Where can I get a Congress invitation letter so that I can apply for a visa?
Please send a request for an official invitation letter to    . Please make sure to send us your full name (as printed in your passport), full postal address and passport number. An official invitation letter will be created and sent to you by e-mail within 3 working days.

Is it possible to send an official invitation letter directly to my local South Africa Consulate?
Unfortunately we are unable to send invitation letters directly to consulates. Invitation letters are prepared solely for individuals and are mailed directly to them.

CME Credits

Is the Congress CME accredited?

The 8th World Congress of the World Society for Pediatric Infectious Diseases (WSPID 2013) has applied for European external CME credits (ECMEC). The website will be updated as further information becomes known.

How can I claim my CME credits after the congress?

You may receive your CME Certificate of Attendance on site at the Congress Venue.  Please approach the Registration Desk on site for further information. Each medical specialist should claim only those hours of credit that he/she actually spent in the educational activity.
