Obtaining an Australian Visa
The Australian Department of Immigration has a dedicated International Event Coordinator Network (IECN) that assists international business event delegates obtain Australian visas. The IECN facilitates the issuing of many of these visas online via their Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) process. Every country has different visa requirements so please refer to the General Events Fact Sheet - Dec10 which outlines all the information relating to how to obtain an Australian visa and the visa options available for people attending business events and conferences.
Please be advised that delegates need to factor in processing time in order to secure their VISAs well in advance of the event.
Nationals not eligible for an Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) are required to submit a paper-based application Business (Short Stay) visa (Subclass 456). Delegates can apply for this visa at:

Currently the visa application charge is $AUD105. The visa application can also include family members wishing to travel with the main visa applicant to Australia (eg spouse and unmarried dependent children).
Health and character requirements
All visa applicants are required to meet certain character and health requirements as part of their visa application process. These requirements exist to uphold the safety and security of the Australian community. The "Australian Immigration Fact Sheet 79 The Character Requirement and Form 1163i Health requirement for temporary entry to Australia provide some general information on these requirements.
The particular requirements people must meet as part of the visa application process will depend on such things as the visa applied for, personal circumstances and the length and purpose of their stay in Australia. Please be aware that visa processing will be delayed significantly if a person is asked to undergo further health and/or character checks. It is therefore important the applicant provides as much information as possible when answering any health and character questions on their visa application form.
