in protecting the interests of UK patients with Primary Immunodeficiency, both at a political level and in fostering research into better therapy.
There have been many research funding successes, ranging from the substantial funding for pioneering work on gene therapy for SCID, to the smaller grants that have supported novel work on the mechanisms and complications in CVID. Furthermore, the PiA provides an important interface between the Department of Health, Health Commissioners and Hospital Trusts, and the pharmaceutical companies providing immunoglobulin and other therapies.

PiA are asking that you and your nurses make patients aware of the PiA and what it does, encourage them to join the PiA if they are not members, and inform them of our current difficulties in the hope that they might donate or raise money.
