Faisal Ahmed
The title of Professor Ahmed’s lecture at N&G 2012: “Growth and chronic disease: Pathophysiology”
|
|
Professor Faisal Ahmed graduated from the University of Edinburgh and trained mainly at the Royal Hospital For Sick Children, Edinburgh and Addenbrookes Hospital, Cambridge. Currently, he is a consultant in paediatric endocrinology and bone metabolism at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children, Yorkhill, Glasgow, clinical lead for children’s services R&D for Greater Glasgow & Clyde Health Board and has an honorary chair at the University of Glasgow. Professor Ahmed has a long–standing interest in understanding the effect of chronic inflammatory disease on growth and skeletal development. He has been involved in studies that explore the underlying mechanisms as well as clinical therapeutic options.

Anne Klibanski
The title of Anne Klibanski’s lecture at N&G 2012: “Anorexia nervosa and defects of the GH/IGF-I axis”

|
Anne Klibanski, M.D, is the Laurie Carrol Guthart Professor of Medicine, Harvard Medical School, Chief, Neuroendocrine Unit, Massachusetts General Hospital, and Director of the Clinical Research Center of the Harvard Catalyst Clinical and Translational Science Center, Boston. A leader in the field of neuroendocrine disorders, Dr. Klibanski’s research interests include the neuroendocrine regulation of body composition. She has served as a member of the NIH DDK Board of Counselors and as President of The Pituitary Society. The author of over 300 papers and chapters, she has received numerous awards including the Endocrine Society Clinical Investigator Award and the Clinical Endocrinology Trust Medal from the British Endocrine Society.
