Frauenkirche (Church of Our Lady)
The Frauenkirche (Church of Our Lady) was Saxony’s most important protestant church, an emblem of the city until it was destroyed in 1945 during World War II. This magnificent church was re-built in the centre of the Old Town. A third of the used stones are origins which is discernible by the dark stains. The 130 million Euro re-construction, was mostly financed by donation. The ceremonious inauguration was celebrated on 31 October 2005. Ever since, the cupola once more dominates the skyline of historic Dresden.
