ESGO supports young oncologists in their careers by promoting educational activities for them that focus on practical aspects, research experiences and laboratory skills. By organizing junior activities at its biennial congresses, for example, ESGO ultimately provides them with the opportunity to disseminate information in their home countries.
For this reason, ESGO decided to include a junior member on its executive council to represent the young oncologists and to express their needs. Dr. Murat Gultekin is the first such representative.
To be included in the juniors club and its activities, please contact Dr. Murat Gultekin at the following address:

Junior Activities
Who is a young oncologist?
Anyone under 40 years old with an interest in gynecologic oncology is defined as a young gynecologic oncologist (be it a trainee or a specialist whatever the subspecialty e.g. gyn oncol, medical oncol or radiation oncol).
If you are a young oncologist and an ESGO member, you will have the chance to participate in the following junior activities:
The ESGO Young Researchers’ Session will take place on Sunday, October 11, 2009 from 18:15 -19:15.
The session will provide a special opportunity for young researchers who are still in training or residents or PhD students or fellows in Gyn-Oncology to meet and to present their Research.
A prize will be awarded to the best Young Researcher’s Presentation.
Lectures in this session will be given by Young Researcher’s only and all registered participants to the ESGO 16 Meeting are welcome to attend.
The Young Researcher's Lounge will be available in the Exhibition Area and will allow young doctors the chance to get aquainted, meet and discuss their research. We hope that this will increase the scope of friendship between young doctors.
All ESGO young oncologists and congress attendees who are under the age of 40 may use the Lounge.
The Young Oncologist Sunrise Session is an educational event that gives young oncologists an opportunity to practice publishing high quality papers and presenting research findings, and to learn: how to obtain financial support for research projects; basics of biostatistics on gynecologic oncology; practical aspects relative to career development skills; and how the translational molecular laboratories work. These sessions will take place from 07:30 – 08:30 on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
The Young Ocologist Disco Party will take place on a boat which will sail down the Danube and Sava rivers. This will give young doctors the chance to see Belgrade at night and to dance and socialize with fellow young oncologists and new acquaintances. A DJ and light refreshments will be provided and participants will be required to pay a €15 reservation fee.
Young Researcher Handbook for the junior members will be distributed during the congress without extra payment. The authors are chosen from all around the world and are very famous in their topics.
The book is composed of whole gynecologic oncology topics, including surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy and imaging specialties.
There are also discussions about the most debateful areas of gyn oncol and review of multinational trials. Also, future aspects of gynecologic oncology and recent advances are reviewed.
All ENYGO members will have the chance to have this booklet without extra-payment during the Belgrade congress.
