Welcome Letter 

Dear Colleagues,

The 22nd European Congress of Psychiatry (EPA 2014), taking place 1-4 March 2014 in Munich, Germany, will be a major meeting of international psychiatrists dedicated to promoting European psychiatry and to improving mental health around the globe. On behalf of the European Psychiatric Association (EPA), it is our great pleasure to invite you to join us at this occasion.

Celebrating its 30th Anniversary in 2013, EPA recognises the importance of strong historical links to European psychiatry and therefore Munich, with its connection to over one hundred years of psychiatry, is an excellent choice to welcome us in 2014.

Guided by the motto European Psychiatry Focusing on Body and Mind, we are preparing a top-notch scientific programme that will review the most important aspects of diagnosis and treatment in psychiatry and examine the latest achievements in the field. As such, it is a great honour to welcome Professor Antonio Damasio and Professor Andreas Papassotiropoulos to present two of the plenary lectures at EPA 2014.

Through a variety of session types, including Plenary Lectures, CME Academia courses and a dedicated European Early Career Psychiatrists Programme, EPA 2014 will meet the needs of all participants, from trainees in psychiatry to the most esteemed professors. We will also be introducing a new session type, Meet the Experts, which will allow participants the opportunity to meet some of the EPA Speakers in a small group, and discuss real life clinical issues and practical solutions
and strategies.

The EPA is committed to helping psychiatrists network, share research and learn from their colleagues and peers across Europe and beyond. Accordingly, we have developed an array of activities at the European Congress of Psychiatry which will allow these valuable connections to continue and flourish.

We invite clinicians and researchers to take part in the exchange of knowledge and experience by contributing to the scientific programme of our Congress through the submission of proposals for CME Courses, symposia and workshops before 28 May 2013.
