Registration & Accommodation

All participants must submit a completed registration form. Hotel accommodation at special conference rates will be offered to participants.

Climate

The climate in Budapest is continental with moderate temperatures. December, January and February are characterized by winter weather with the possibility of snowfall.

Time Zone

The time zone in Budapest is Central European Time (CET) (GMT +1 hour), and six hours ahead of Eastern Standard Time (EST).

Banking and Exchange

The unit of currency is Hungarian Forint (HUF).
Banks are open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Friday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.  All banks are closed on Saturdays. Money can also be exchanged at exchange offices, hotel reception desks and travel offices. ATMs operate after hours in Budapest.

Opening Hours of Places of Interest

Museums, art galleries and castles generally open from 10 until 18 hrs (from Tuesdays to Sundays).

Opening Hours of Shops

Most shops are open from 10:00 to 18:00 on weekdays and from 10:00 to 13:00 on Saturday. Though, shopping malls and many supermarkets are open till 20:00-22:00.

Visa Requirements

Participants are requested to check with the Hungarian consulate in their home country or with their travel agency for visa requirements. It is the responsibility of the participant to obtain a visa if required.
Tourists holding valid US or Canadian passports are not required to have a visa for stays of less than 90 days. Passports must be valid for at least another six months from the planned date of arrival into Hungary. Participants requiring a visa should apply to the consular office or a diplomatic mission of Hungary in their country.
Please note that the visa application procedure can take up to two months.

European Accreditation of the Conference

The EASL Monothematic Conference on Portal Hypertension: Advances in Knowledge, Evaluation and Management is accredited by the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME) to provide the following CME activity for medical specialists. The EACCME is an institution of the European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS), www.uems.net

The EASL Monothematic Conference: Portal Hypertension: Advances in Knowledge, Evaluation and Management is designated for a maximum of 14 hours of European external CME credits. Each medical specialist should claim only those hours of credit that he/she actually spent in the educational activity.

EACCME credits are recognized by the American Medical Association towards the Physician's Recognition Award (PRA). To convert EACCME credit to AMA PRA category 1 credit, contact the AMA.

Vice versa, all CME activities approved by the American Medical Association (AMA) are recognised by the EACCME. The American Medical Association is an 'Accredited Provider' of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) - USA.

Airport Information:

Budapest' international airport is the Ferihegy Airport with 2 terminals (2A and 2B) and it is  the only airport serving the capital city of Budapest, and the largest among the country's five international airports. The airport is located 10 miles (16km) south east of Budapest. The terminals are close enough together to be accessible by foot.
Transfers:
- Airport minibus transports passengers from both terminals to required address and from any address to the airport (2.300 HUF/per person).
- The local bus runs between the metro station of Kőbánya-Kispest and Ferihegy Airport.

From Eastern Europe: 14th district, Népstadion bus terminal.

Public transport:
The BKV (Budapest Public Transport Company) operates metro lines (M1-yellow, M2-red, M3-blue), blue local buses, red trolley buses and yellow trams. Services generally operate from 4:30 until 23:30 hrs. On the main routes buses and trams run as well during the night with the same fares.
Uniform tickets should be bought in advance and purchased on buses, trams, trolley buses, metro lines, castle bus, cogwheel rail and suburban trains (HÉV) within the city borders. Tickets are available at the ticket offices in metro stations, newsstands and ticket-machines.
